This book can be very useful for people who suffer from anxiety, and people who want to understand anxiety better.

The information is explained in a way that is easy to understand. The book is well written (not stiff or stuffy), well formatted, evenly paced, and chock full of useful information and tips. The order in which the topics are introduced makes it even easier to absorb. The author does a good job of presenting the information as a truthworthy and relatable advisor instead of an expert who wants to simply prove how much they know and how much they've done. Most books of this nature are overwrought with personal experiences or drawn out examples which can make the reader feel disconnected from the material, then quickly become disinterested, but this one stays on track smoothly. It mentions IBS and GERD, which I've had for years, and I was impressed that gut health was included. Different types of anxiety, phobias, medications, supplements, and holistic treatments are all explored in depth. I also really enjoyed the "mind tools" and the inclusion of mindfulness, which I try to focus on daily but usually gets kicked to the sidelines once my anxiety monster runs onto the field.

My only major gripe was the abrupt conclusion. The book ends without much lead up that it's doing so. I'm also not a fan of the cover as it does not do justice to the content.

Overall, I feel I understand myself better after reading this book. This is the type of book to keep on your shelf and refer back to when needed, and maybe even break out the highlighters to focus on the parts that resonate with you. I'll most likely read this book in its entirety again in the future, partly due to the fact that my anxiety causes me to have retention and memory issues. Out of many similar, read and unread books on my shelves, I'm glad I chose to read this one.
