The Kinder Poison is the story of Zahru, a commoner who sneaks her way into a banquet at the palace that is supposed to be the greatest adventure of her life. While it does turn out to be her greatest adventure, it does so because she gets caught up in the feuds between the royal heirs and finds herself the human sacrifice in their competition to become ruler. Along the way, she learns a lot about herself, her capabilities, and how to face her fears.
This book was such a great read from start to finish! The writing is great, the characters are compelling and morally grey, and it was so easy to get through! I thought the book really did a great job discussing themes of classism, identity, and kindness as a powerful tool. The romance is convincing and I cannot wait to see what happens in the sequel!
