The characters were my favorite part of this novel. The characters were well-developed, and I enjoyed reading about them all - especially Zahru - throughout the novel. Zahru was one of my favorite characters. She's perceptive and kind, and her kindness throughout the novel made me root for her as a protagonist.I enjoyed the magic system in it, and the way it was interwoven throughout the plot. I did wish there were less forms of magic because it became a bit confusing as to what the extents were at times. Because there were so many characters with so many diverse powers, I wish there were more clearly defined kinds of magic.This was so wild and entertaining, and I was intrigued from the first sentence. We talked about YA fantasy characters who are relatable. How could she keep insisting this was a bad decision but then do dubious things? Same here, Zahru!
