First I would like to thank The Bookish First for my finished hard copy of The Kinder Poison! I squealed when it came in the mail. True story.

Now review time:

Well, I loved it... end of review.
Nah just kidding. But not about the loving it part, that's for real. 100%

This book is fast paced, filled with magic, and had really enjoyable characters. I loved the characters in this book. Honestly, I thought they were all pretty great. I love the competitiveness, the banter, and their fight. Obviously, I am team Zahu (duh) She's strong, clever, brave - pretty much all those things you want your main gal to be, she was. But not in a snobbish way, you know? Don't worry obviously the author knows how to write a real character, because she gives Zahu her flaws and weaknesses as well. Plus, I find her to be HILARIOUS. When a book can make me laugh, it's an A+ for me. Also, she's super cool, she can talk to animals. (Shoutout to Eliza)

I actually find Zahu's character pretty refreshing. Considering the circumstances she finds herself in, you know, that whole sacrificing thing, yeaaah, but with that she doesn't let that get her down. She uses it to her advantaged, while also making me laugh the whole time. #Girlboss

I thought the plot and the world building was very detailed. From the way the author describes the magic to the very sharp detail she gives the animals. I was really engaged in the story. Usually there are some dry parts, where I'm just like "okay let's hurry this along" but nope, not here. It was smooth reading from beginning to end.

And speaking of the magic, this book did an awesome job building that world and the politics around the magic. It was interesting to learn all about the different levels and the abilities the characters have.

There is a lot going on in this book, especially with all the back stories, but the author did a wonderful job of tying those into the main concept of this book, which I think read really well.

Overall this was a fun, fast ya fantasy. I am looking forward to the sequel.
