Zahru tries to sneak away from her ordinary life as a normal citizen with very low magic. When she goes out in search of adventure, the plan she and her best friend Hen have set up turns out to give Zahru a much bigger adventure than she anticipated.
I loved the characters in the book. There's a lot of rivalries going on between them, every character has a side to love and to hate. It made me feel for every single one of them, and kept me thoroughly engaged throughout the book.
The book itself read like a breeze. It's fast paced, the world building carries you away, and there's plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader going. The end is very open, and as much as it's an end to the story described on the blurb, I would've preferred an ending that offers a little more closure. All in all, however, I tremendously enjoyed this book, and I'd definitely recommend it.
