The type of fantasy read that will have you inhaling page after page.

Zahru is cautious and follows the rules but when given the chance to visit the palace and a night of festivities during the start of The Crossing she couldn’t resist. The Crossing is a treacherous race across the dessert that ends with a human sacrifice to determine which heir of the crown will be the next ruler. Zahru’s night of fun quickly turns into a nightmare when she is forced to become the human sacrifice and finds herself being pulled between three heirs and into a treacherous royal feud.

This book had an interesting magical world, a plot that moved along quickly and characters that you don’t know whether to love or hate. One character I was sure about was Zahru. She was kind, clever, and you continuously root for her to find a way out of this mess. I really enjoyed this story but I had expected a bit more danger with regard to the elements/creatures from the desert itself given the description of The Crossing in the book. Regardless, there was plenty of drama to keep you entertained and I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.
