I always find rating and reviewing nonfiction so difficult. When it comes to memoirs I feel like giving it a rating is judging someone else’s life experiences. If I were to rate this book, I feel like I’d be swayed with the fact that this mother daughter relationship was horrible and I don’t think that’s a fair judgement for this book. Going into this book you know it’s going to be an unhealthy relationship right from the start. I was hooked into this story and wanted to find out how this was going to play out for all of the family and friends involved. It’s so crazy how this book starts off with one simple life event and how it changed the rest of her life. Watching what she then went through for the proceeding years was difficult to watch. It felt like the train wreck that you can’t help but observe and you can’t look away. I think a lot can be taken from this book as a daughter and now for me as a mother of a daughter. There were some quotes that I will definitely walk away with that hit home for me. It was a truly unique experience reading this book.
