This book was incredibly moving, and the author conveyed her emotions so vividly and deeply that I felt them, too. I can relate to so much of what she wrote; having a boundary-less relationship with a mother who crosses them, who never apologizes for the havoc she wreaks emotionally, and who also never seems to realize the hypocrisy of her words and actions, and most depressing of all, loves herself more then she loves me. It felt so relieving to relate and understand someone else's perspective, because so many times in novels we read about great parental relationships. Normally I don't read memoirs, but this one was luscious with the details and imagery, and I adored it. I am so glad Adrienne became aware of her mother's negative effects on her, and changed the pattern with her own daughter. Splendid, honest, raw, and emotional.
