I sometimes struggle to read nonfiction and this was my first memoir. This is a story about the author's mother who embarks on an affair with her husband's best friend but drags her daughter into it. The repercussions of which last throughout her life and into her relationships. Family dysfunction at it’s finest. Who doesn’t have a skeleton or two in their family closet? I had to keep reminding myself that this was a true story. This was a short read and well written. I was curious to see how the whole affair situation would work out. Thank goodness Rennie healed from this and was able to move on and have a somewhat normal relationship with her own husband and children. A fascinating and sad book at the same time!
