Wild Game: My Mother, Her Lover and Me is the story of Adrienne Brodeur’s tumultuous relationship with her mother, Malabar. Lately I've really come to enjoy memoirs and this one was no exception. It seems that i'm drawn to those memoirs about people with really dysfunctional families. Adrienne is fourteen years old and asleep one summer night when her mother wakes her to say that she has been kissed by Ben Souther who is Adrienne's fathers best friend. Adrienne is sucked into being her mother's confidante and accomplice to the affair that goes on for decades. I was not expecting to like this memoir as much as i did but once i picked it up it was addicting and very entertaining. i found it quite astonishing that a mother would put her 14 year old daughter in to such a predicament, but Malabar was really a narcissistic person concerned only with her own selfish needs.
