Dragged very slowly
This is a slllloooowwww paves book. Every description is painfully slow, from the herbs being used to cook to the description of the estate. If you want a Nantucket-ish boring Sunday read, this might be your ticket
The characters are stereotypical- fisherman on Cape Cod- how very original. I really wanted to be hooked from the beginning as the title is so promising. However the style and pace are distracting instead of invigorating. When someone features the mother as the main character and title placement it is either a beloved wholesome mother or the crazy Joan crawford type- this book walked the fence.
The daughter is dismissed in character development- in the section I was able to review. Promising title but doesn’t live up!
