WOW right? This book got me thinking SUPER hardcore afterwards. My parents split up when I was the same ago due to infidelity and there are still implications I find myself trying to get past as an adult in my 30’s. So imagine being used by a parent as an accomplice to engage in an affair. Before you go assuming the worst of Malabar and Adrienne, you must learn of Malabar’s own family dynamics first so you can “understand.” Afterwards, you almost sympathize with Adrienne because as a child she didn’t know any better and didn’t think differently of it. She was simply being her Mother’s best friend - seeking and thriving on the attention her mother gave her because of their kept secret. It wasn’t until years later and Adrienne having her own children did she realize the harm that Malabar had put her through. This is the story of how Adrienne came to be complicit with her mother’s infidelity and the ramifications of it. Highly recommend!
