As someone who struggles with anxiety and depression, I was interested to see what this book had to say. Most people who have made it through the pandemic have probably grappled with anxiety at some point in the past two years, and as the first lines of the book say "Everyone has experienced anxiety at some level"; so I think this book could offer some help and guidance to quite a few. While I have a good understanding of the mechanics and causes of anxiety, I think Dr. Mark's explanations were very good at bridging the gap between scientific knowledge and layman's terminology. I will note that the reading level in the first 20 pages is more fit for one with some formal education; while not on the level of collegiate scholarship, I would venture to say a high school reading level and cursory knowledge of biology/neurology are needed to follow the text. Her Socratic approach breaks down the major questions easily, and helps illustrate the different aspects of anxiety.

I especially think this book is apt for anyone recently diagnosed with Anxiety, or those who think they may have an undiagnosed anxiety disorder. Additionally, those who are close to someone who struggles with anxiety would benefit from having a clearer and knowledgeable understanding of their loved one's anxiety. I'm definitely adding this one to my "To Be Read" list, and I look forward to its release.
