I want to start out by saying that this book is not within my typical genre. Nevertheless, I was intrigued by the First Look, and decided to give this book the old college try. However, I feel absolutely duped. Befuddled. Bamboozled. Because this book is not really what I signed up for. I wanted a mythical, intriguing mystery with some religious influence. I got a story with barley intelligible plot and underdeveloped characters. There was also a whole lot of random, unnecessary misogyny that was thrown in throughout in the form of one-liners; all of which added nothing to the plot and just served to make me dislike the main character and make me very uncomfortable. The "mystery", if you could call it that, gets totally derailed by another plot line and gets completely overshadowed. This is how this book ends, not with a bang, but with a whimper.
