I was excited to win the raffle, couldn't wait to get my hands on the book/story. Sounded fascinating. My book was even late in arriving. Anticipation. I adore murder mysteries.
I wasn't worried about knowing anything about William Blake or the characters he created. In a good book that shouldn't matter.
The beginning of the book started out pretty good. Even the 'first read/look' was interesting. But then it took a turn into a world I did not care for. Couldn't find the humor. Didn't like that women seemed to be viewed as purely a sex object. Yuck. Made me feel voyeuristic--I did not need to know Ded's thoughts and bedroom activities. It just made me feel very awkward as a reader. I couldn't even explain what I read to my husband without feeling eww.
I couldn't even finish the book. Which is sad, because I so looked forward to the story.
I will say that "Plato's Cave", was interesting.
