It’s the 1970’s and Ded is a death insurance adjuster. I was a bit taken aback when he told a passenger on the plane that his business was death, especially because we already know there’s a dead man on the same flight. Ded gets called in to investigate the odd, or confusing, cases of death (I think this is to determine guilt for insurance purposes, I’m not sure). It seems like a good thing that Ded happens to be on this flight, with the dead man in the bathroom, and will be able to help investigate. I don’t think I’ve read an excerpt like this before and it’s hard to know how to classify it.
