This is a bittersweet story that begins with a chance meeting between two old acquaintances. Teichner has her bull terrier, Minnie, with her. Her friend knows of another bull terrier, Harry, who will need a new home because his owner, Carol, is dying. As Minnie and Harry meet and get to know each other, so do Martha and Carol. The friendship between the two women is one of those rare and cherished friendships that don’t happen that often between adults. I loved reading about the dogs getting to know each other. I enjoyed Teichner’s descriptions of her surroundings and the people in this story. It almost made me feel as if I was present. I truly enjoyed this story. I hope it is released in a large print edition as well because I think my mom would really like it too.
