This book is a lovely, heart warming read. The author has such talent in weaving you into her story. I expressly picked this book due to it being all about dogs and the person who loves them, so I would say you need to love dogs to really feel how the author does about her bull terriers. I learned so much about the breed by reading this book, as this is not a dog I was familiar. Also the end of life choices both the author's mother and Carol (Harry's original human) must make for their beloved pets were just heart breaking. I don't think many of us even begin to imagine the pain involved with being sick and knowing no one will be there to care for your pet. I also learned more about NYC than I ever knew. The farmer's market the author goes to each weekend sounds like such a lovely community. Each location she introduces to you becomes quite real in your mind's eye. I really am savoring the read.
