I'm not a dog person. At all. Which is why it was so surprising to me how immediately drawn into this excerpt I became. I loved it. It made me tear up. That, to me, says that it's very, very well-written. For a dog-lover, I imagine this book would bring buckets of tears - both happy and sad.
