Speechless....that's what I felt after reading this book. I am still processing everything that happened in this book. I couldn't decide if I wanted to keep reading or if I wanted to put down the book because there was so much suspension throughout the whole thing. This book is so beautifully written in a simple way. There are conversations that are just a couple of words exchanged at a time and Anderson does such a good job at capturing all the emotions that are underlying.
Jack is trying to keep himself and his brother alive and in a safe location. They encounter Ava who shows up to help them. But here's the catch, Jack and Ava have only seen each other once and Ava warned him to stay away. So why is she helping them out? Jack is all the ambition and nervousness that one would expect of someone in this situation. Ava is resourceful and supports the boys throughout the story. Most importantly, Matty is there to bring innocence to the group. Without him I don't this story would be complete. He is the drive too much of what they do.
