Like I went into it not really knowing what it was about, I'll admit. I saw all the other positive reviews and thought hey why not? I really could tell from the excerpt that this won't have a happy ending but I'm excited to read the rest.
The characters, especially the boys, Jack and Matty you just want to have a happy ending so badly. It's such a sad start with their mom and it's hard not to want good things for them.

It's engrossing, human, hard to read, but I want to know more. I need to know more. It's just that well done. This is not my usual genre, darker than I like, but hooked me right away. I can't believe this is a debut and that it's a start of a series!
