Wow, wow, wow..... I thought I knew what I was getting myself into but BOY did I not have a clue. What Beauty There Is builds a level of suspense that I wasn’t expecting in a Young Adult novel. When I say this book was a page turner, I mean it. I zoomed through the last 3/4th of this book in one evening. It felt like I was transported to Idaho running through the woods with them - alone, cold, and injured. Cory Anderson’s writing is so good that I even felt nauseous when the characters were nauseous. The juxtaposition between Ava and Jack was really a thing of beauty - two versions of the same dark story. It’s a special type of writing and it is especially astounding for a debut novel.

My only criticism for the book is the ending. This could be for selfish reasons because I didn’t want it to end but I felt like I missed portions of Ava’s story that I wished had been expanded upon.
