To be completely honest, I didn't finish the book. I hate doing that but this book just wasn't the right kind for me right now. Too many sad things happened in the beginning for me to be able to finish at this time. It definitely has potential, and I'm going to pick it up again once I'm out of my reading slump.
I thought the formatting was really interesting. The italics in the beginning of each chapter were interesting to read. I think they were supposed to be another point of view but I don't know for sure.
It was really sad to see Jack have to take care of his brother all by himself and to see how is mother's death affected him. When I pick up the book again I'm excited to see how Ava becomes more a part of the story. Matty just seemed like the cutest kid, he reminds me of my younger siblings.
Overall, the reason I put the book down had nothing to do with the book itself, I just wasn't in the right headspace.
