Everything about this book is beautiful—from the cover to the writing. The diction is simple and lyrical, yet incredibly powerful. What Beauty There Is is filled with so many meaningful quotes and lessons. Anderson creates these poetic little pieces from Ava’s point of view at the start of nearly every chapter, and every time, these few sentences tugged on my heartstrings.

This novel grabbed me from the first sentence and kept me eager to keep turning the page. Tension is built throughout, both through the plot itself and the writing style. I found myself getting swept up in the pages and before I knew it, I had already read 100 pages. There is sort of an air of mystery throughout the story that kept me on my toes and eagerly eating up every scrap of information Anderson wrote.

The characters were incredibly well developed and were written in a way that most people could relate to their worries and motivations. It was impossible not to fall in love with Jack, Matty, and Ava. The bond these three characters developed was almost heartbreakingly sweet. They went through some incredibly dark things, but the resilience that the characters had was interwoven so well throughout.

This book was dark and has quite a few triggers, but it truly was such a beautiful story—one that will stick with me for years.
