This story begins by giving you a visual of the weather. It’s cold, bleak and snowing and two brothers have nothing left except for each other. Jack has no one and is alone in the world except for his younger brother Matty. Abandoned by their mother Jack would do anything for Matty. Desperate and with no other options Jack decides to find the money specifically the drug money that sent their father to prison in order for them to have a chance at survival. An excepted individual is also stalking Jack to get the money now his daughter Ava must make the impossible choice stay loyal to her father or help Jack and his younger brother. This story in the first couple pages really reminds me of Ellen Hopkins stories that have impact!
