What I liked about this right off the bat was the character Jack. He is obviously going through some really heavy stuff but has the strength to keep it together for his brother Matty. Right from the beginning, you can tell that Jack is a caretaker who will do whatever it takes to protect the ones he loves. The atmosphere is written so strong that you can feel the cold winter winds blowing around you and hear them battering the windows. Then it shifts to a typical high school setting. Ava comes into the story as a quiet loner who is being bullied by the high school quarterback. They seem to be a perfect match. His quiet, strong loner side, and her quiet, crazy loner side. I bet they will make an interesting team. I am curious as to what will happen to Jack and Matty, will they survive? The cover is beautifully illustrated.
