As someone who works in mental health and with children in foster care, I am often drawn to stories like this one. The trauma that Jack experiences within the first pages of this book are stories I have heard before; to see them written honestly and directly is unexpected and significant. I look forward to reading the entire book, and seeing how the author ties the choices of these children together.
