This is such an interesting start to a story. Jack's storyline is incredibly compelling as he is forced to take matters into his own hands to keep himself and his brother afloat. I am tentatively intrigued by Ava, but the glimpses we get into her perspective take away from the story, in my opinion, as we are told what happens before it happens. I think that could work overall but it doesn't in the first couple of chapters.
