The opening lines of this book immediately caught my attention. I could almost feel the cold seeping into my bones. As I read, I got a sense of protection Jack has over Matty, and I'm curious to see where this story goes. The little vignettes at the opening of each chapter do a great job giving enough of a future sense to drive the story forward without giving too much away. With its deep blue cover, this book drew me in from the start.
