The story this book tells is interesting, and I’m glad for the work the author put into it. My hope is that some of the repetition and confusion caused by time jumps and the organization of the story will be ironed out in the final copy. People never cease to amaze in their capacity for evil.

I like the way the author didn't really come right out and say who did it, but I wish he would have done a better job at either burying the clues as to who did it or making clues as to the motivations of other family members more prominent. It always felt fairly obvious who the killer was, even though it was clear that the author wanted to keep the reader guessing for some time.

I also liked the way the author went back and forth through time, both in the victim's life and in the lives of others, to lay background for things we'd either just learned or were about to learn.
