I was really excited to read this when I saw the first look. It sounded like a gripping family drama, and I love true crime. It was a little slow to start, and I had a hard time following some of the early details of Adam & Katie's relationship. The text messages between them were hard to follow and the timeline jumped around a lot in the first few chapters. Once I got into it though, it was a really heartbreaking story of the murder of Mary Yoder, and how it was so difficult for police to figure out the case, and finally make a conviction. I don't recall ever hearing about this case in the news, but it sounds like it would have been all over.

I think that true crime fans would enjoy this story, and once you get into it, it reads like a novel. It has enough details to explain things, but not so many that it bogs you down as a reader. It is sad to think that this really happened to a family.
