Just finished this great true crime novel by M. William Phelps. It's about the murder of an upstate NY chiropractor Mary Yoder by colchicine. The book details the lives of the Yoder family, mainly Bill and Mary Yoder and their son Adam. It also details the rocky, toxic relationship of Adam and his on again, off again girlfriend Katie. Phelps does a great job of laying out the story through interviews, text messages, and other sources that lay out the events that led up to Mary's illness and death and then the events and aftermath after it is discovered that Mary was poisoned. We then are brought into the investigation by the police and the DA's office and their investigation of who poison such a well loved person as Mary Yoder.
Phelps does a great job of laying out the facts and events in this case. The only thing I disliked was the way especially in the beginning he went from the present and then the next chapter he went back in time to give back story. At times, at least to me, it got a little confusing where it fit in in the timeline. I just think the background info could of been presented a bit more cohesive. But besides that I really enjoyed this book.
