It felt like reading a script from an audiobook

The way it was written made the book seem like it's supposed to be a script for a TV series or an audiobook. The all-knowing narrator provides insight, descriptions, and walks the reader through what the people did or how they felt. The dialogues sound like re-enactments and the writing is dramatic and concise. So far everything sounds sketchy and everyone is a suspect. I would like to find out the truth.
