Excellent beginning to a true crime story

I love that the tale began with more or less with the death of the victim. The tension began immediately, and though we pretty much knew who did it, finding out WHY is already something I NEED to know. Why would someone want to hurt a woman who was known for her kindness? I had so many questions within the first few pages.
