With the real-world crises like in The Hate U Give and with fantastic prose from author Joy McCollough, this book is a must-add to your 2021 TBR. I was so thrilled to win a copy- thank you, Bookishfirst- and would highly recommend this to anyone who is interested! As promised, here is a spoiler-free review.

The book is about a girl named Em Morales, and her sister Nor, who is raped at a college frat party. Although they initially gain a win in court, it turns out that Nor's rapist is not facing any jail time. This is a tale of hope, revenge, and desperation as Em tries to fix the situation. Along the way she discovers the story of a 15th century French noblewoman, Marguerite de Bressieux, who is doing what Em is trying to do- avenge the victims of rape.

This is a badass story with amazing writing and fantastic characters. It was a page turner until the very end and I would highly recommend this to anyone!
