Before I even read the preview of WE ARE THE ASHES WE ARE THE FIRE, the synopsis grabbed me from the start. Campus rape is a huge issue, and I enjoy reading thought-provoking books with the themes explored in detail in this book: women's rights, power, and agency. I will admit, it is not easy reading Em's thoughts and feelings on the matter. But, isn't putting ourselves in uncomfortable situations that what helps us grow?
