This author never seems to disappoint. That being said, this book was completely different from what I have read from her in the past. I was immediately taken with the feeling of desolation and the sense of loss in this book. I loved the characters in this book and thought that they all definitely added something compelling and substantial to the writing. I think my favorite character ended up being Chad. He had such a compelling backstory and was misjudged by so many, but was one of the most authentic people for the main character. I liked the bookstore concept and how this tied into the overall life and vision of Aaron and just seemed to obscure any future hopes and dreams until he starts to realize value in a good way. This was a coming of age story in a way, but really hit home that it is never too late and there there is immense value to community and relationships. Thanks for the ARC, BookishFirst.
