I absolutely fell in love with this book as soon as I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down. The author also wrote the book “If I Stay”, which needed to be mentioned because that book is amazing as well and really goes to show that you’ll be able to find quality content from this book.
Going into the story I believed that this would be a typical love story, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is so much more than that. It delves into topics such as grief, addiction, and how to continue on with life even when you feel like it’s not worth it. Some of the characters have had horrible things happen either to them or to those around them, and that affects the way they see the world. In the case of the main character, it hardens him and his cynicism is evident to all those around him. He becomes friends with a boy from high school whose life was changed forever, and together they create new memories and learn new lessons. I couldn’t recommend this enough, because it helps to healthily explain relationships (friend, romantic, and family) and shows in a realistic way how to overcome all that life throws at you.
