If I am going to be honest, I didn’t enjoy this book that much. Since this same author wrote big white teeth, which i liked, i thought i would also like this. However that was not the case, the story was hard to follow, the characters were unlikable, and the writing was simply boring. She took and ambitious book idea and did nothing with it.
Along with that there are some very big other issues in her hook. She wrote characters which were inherently racist and problematic. Whether she was trying to prove a point or just let her true colors show. I dont really understand her artistic idea with this book. And many other people also agree.
I really wouldn't recommend this book to someone with even slightly good taste because it just wasn't good. I dont mean to be harsh, but truthful. There are so many good books, dont waste your time with this one.
