Not for me

Firstly I should just say I DNFed this quite early on but from what I read and what I've heard it just did not seem worth continuing.
The concept itself seemed interesting but the way it was presented just seemed very two dimensional and gave me nothing to get really invested in. Rather than existing within the dark fantasy setting it felt like everything happened to emphasise the dark fantasy setting and it just didn't work for me.
The writing itself for the most part was nice but a little clunky in places.
Finally while I have not read far enough to reach the problematic elements numerous reviews mention racist tropes and in particular black gay men. (If you want more on this there are numerous reviews on good reads going into this more). Considering this alongside my initial thoughts upon reading it, this is not a book I want to continue reading or support.
