I was happy to get a book that is different than the fantasy novels I read. The first thing about this book... it reminds me a TV series called Once Upon A Time.
The second thing, the characters are well made.
The third thing, the world build is actually quite interesting.
However, it's just not my favorite. The whole book made it seem like it was taking forever for something to happen.
I felt like some parts were... meh. However, when I did get to the end, I was already ready to know what happens next.
So there's that part. It had a good ending.
I thought Jesse was really interesting in the book. You just didn't expect that from a character within a book.
Jack now, I do like as a character. She's strong and tries to do anything she could to solve a mystery. She has a closed heart so she rarely let's anybody in her heart.
David seems like... weak to me.
Finally, the nameless girl seems like the one who is innocent but always get the blame for things she didn't do.
Overall, this book is okay. It just might seem slow at first. I didn't hate it but I didn't like it either. Somewhere in between is how I feel about the book.
