*I won a finished copy of "We All Fall Down" in a BookishFirst raffle. Thank you to BookishFirst and Macmillian for sending me a finished copy*

I was so excited to read this (pretty cover? Check! Diverse fantasy? Check!) I was getting into the story and thought that it was unique until a certain scene happened.. I'm going to try to be vague but basically

****SPOILER!!!!*****

Jack (a white character) falsely accuses Emmet (a black character) of Murders which she knows he is innocent of. As a result, Emmet is interrogated by police and is obviously throughly shaken by it. It's never really addressed again nor does Jack ever face consequences for her actions. It's really disgustingly handled, especially by a white author. Whatever redeeming factors "We Fall Down" had by having an all queer cast and a beautiful cover is completely negated by that scene.
