This book looks so stunning and sounded super amazing. Unfortunately the writing, world building, and plot, fell extremely flat. First of all this is definitely not a young adult book. This book was uncomfortable to the point I had to DNF it. This is a perfect example that if you don’t know have the experience of the characters you’re writing or something who can vent it for you to make it as accurate as possible, then you shouldn’t write it until you have a better understanding. This is also another case where it’s labeled as “dark” but it’s not dark for the sake of learning better or acknowledging issues people face. It is just dark for shock factor. Out of the thousands of books I’ve read I’ve only written negative reviews for 5 total. I’m easy to please I’m books but sometimes you just can’t over look bad stories. It would have been nice to have some acknowledgment for things the characters have done.
