Unfortunately, this story fell really flat for me and I did not enjoy it as much as I would have liked to - which makes me SUPER sad because the cover is GORGEOUS!
I am not 100% sure why it was I could not get into it. I think it may have to do with the fact I could not figure out the setting to it. It is the American South, but I felt like it was in a completely new place (thinking more UK/England).
I also had no connection to the characters whatsoever and wasn't that interested in what was happening. I tried. I really tried to get into this book because I thought it had so much promise - but it shouldn't take me over a week to only get a 130 pages into it when my average read for a book is 100+ pages a day (more if I really enjoyed the book).
The premise of the story was so good, and it could have gone so many placed, but again, it just fell flat for me.
Maybe I'll pick this up again one day, but for now, I'm going to put it back on my shelf.
