As with other fantasies, this one gives a brief look into the past and then moves quickly to a later time. I would like to have had more from the earlier time period to better understand what is happening in the future. For me details of the story are confusing. I imagine more of the plot will be filled in as time goes by, but I find it frustrating. I’m sure there will be a good story about Astrid, David, Nathan, and others if the reader sticks with this.
