After reading a preview of this novel, I have to admit that I was more impressed with it than I expected to be based on reading the synopsis. Certain elements of the novel, including the fact that it is a dark urban fantasy, definitely drew me in and I found myself wanting to read more of the story after the first couple of pages. I like that the book centers around four young queer people who have to deal with the struggles of life while moving between the different parts of River City, a town which used to thrive on magic. The setting is definitely unique and I am interested in seeing where the story goes. The cover is also very nice and intriguing, and I like the dark tones of it; it suits the story well.
