First, I haven’t read the first two books in this series, but that didn’t seem to be too big of an issue. This book reads as a stand-alone, although I felt I was missing some details about the main characters occasionally. Hester is a librarian who also solves mysteries. She’s pretty good at it. So when she gets wrapped up in a decades old mystery involving a rich family and a long dead daughter, she has no problem assisting her detective friend Angela, in the case.

This book is filled with light hearted moments and sadness, most of the characters have their own flaws, including Hester, but you grow to live them all.

I loved the short, concise chapters, and the alternating points of view, going between Hester, Angela, Maxine and Barret. This was a quick, entertaining read, and I’m looking forward to seeing where I can find the first two installments of this series, as well as more from this author!
