I’m a big fan of The Expanse tv show so I was interested as soon as I saw that this was a war between Earth and Mars. Of course, this is very different from The Expanse so I didn’t go in expecting something exactly like that!
The author did a great job of world building, it was interesting and kept me turning pages. The 600 pages passed by so fast! I will say that there were a few spots where it could have been cut down because it did drag, but overall I was impressed at how well paced it was.

The way the war unfolded was great, as were the characters. This is the type of book where it is easy for the characters to blend in the background of the setting, but identity was a big part of the book as the characters were trying to figure out who they were amidst the war and /or a strange new setting to create a new community.

I would say that if you are new to the genre (as long as you aren’t intimidated by length!) this would be a great place to start, and people who are more familiar with the genre would enjoy this too. Definitely recommend!
