This book is huge. Six hundred pages huge. But it needed to be huge in order to accommodate all the descriptions of how the author envisioned life in Mars a century from now. It’s a whole different way of organizing society, even if in the end they’re all humans. In the Mars society created, every person must register with an atelier and they will build their careers from the skills they will learn from the atelier they chose. The vagabonds are those that decide to go against the flow and opt to not register with any atelier - as a way of not having a single label throughout their entire life. They prefer to wander. Overall, it’s an interesting read, but with descriptions and creations better than the story itself.
