I've been working at this book for weeks. The plot sounded intriguing, and I enjoyed the excerpt. But, I just can't do it. I find I don't have any interest in the characters or the plot. The differences between the cultures of Earth and Mars are the most interesting part of the book.
Description is excellent. I do feel like I'm on Mars. It's just that so little happens that I don't care. And, how can I not care about being on Mars!?!? What should have been an intriguing, interesting story moves so slowly that I can no longer pretend I'm ever going to finish it. Maybe it's worth the time, but so many other books are calling to me that I'm going to forgive myself for not reading this all the way through and move on.
